Xetuc Ridge

The challenging 1600 foot vertical climb starts from the private reserve of the finca. This hike will take you through several different microclimates, each with its own flora ad fauna. Xetuc Ridge offers a spectacular view of Lake Atitlán on one side and the Pacific slope on the other, and on a clear day you may see the Pacific Ocean. Upon returning to the finca, a gourmet brunch or lunch awaits you. (Hiking time: 1.5-3 hours.) 

XetucRidge/El Mirador

After climbing 1800 vertical feet from the finca and going through several different microclimates, flora and fauna, you will hike along the ridge-line where you will have special views of Lake Atitlán, the Pacific plains, and villages around the lake. You have the possibility of seeing the Pacific ocean. Upon return, a gourmet lunch awaits you. (Hiking time: 4-5 hours.)

XetucRidge/Pacific Slope

You will climb 1800 vertical feet to the top of the ridge and descend on the Pacific slope side to natural springs and forest. Climbing again to an elevation of 7,000 feet, you will have views of Panajachel and villages across the Lake and then return to the finca for a gourmet meal. (Hiking time: 3-5 hours.) The west trip takes you into virgin forest and small waterfalls.  (Hiking time:5.5-7 hours.)

Combination Treks

One-half of Mirador and all Pacific Slope Trek $55.00  (Hiking time: 8 hours).
Full El Mirador and all Pacific Slope Trek $65.00  The hike is 12 kms. (Hiking time: 8 hours).


(7:00 am - 2:30 pm) $50.00
You will hike to explore the location of the ancient kingdom of the Tzutuhils and will have a chance to dig there for old pottery shards. You will then return to the finca for a gourmet lunch. The hike is 12 kms. (Hiking time: 5 hours).

Volcán San Pedro

(7:00 am - 4:30 pm) $100
Not just a hike, this is a rugged 4,700 ft climb for those looking for an extra challenge. Upon reaching the summit, you will have an amazing view of Lake Atitlán, the lakeside Indian villages, and the volcanoes Toliman and Atitlán. On clear days you can see the Pacific coast from Mexico to El Salvador. You will see a stunning old-growth cloud forest near the top of the volcano and inside the cone. When your descent is complete, a gourmet lunch awaits you. 
(Hiking time: 6-10 hours).

Hiking & Trekking Notes

For the long hikes bring a change of clothes; you'll want to shower before lunch.
Long pants and sleeves recommended. 

You can reach the finca by: 

  • Private Boat - Must be arranged at time of reservation.

  • Public Boat – Scheduled departure time from Panajachel: 5:45am & 4:30pm. “Collectivo” boats leave almost hourly or when they fill up. You will be met at the public boat dock in Santiago.

  • Car - It is also possible to drive your own vehicle to the finca.

  • Private plane - We are 1 km from airport. Private plane can be hired in Guatemala City.


  • Times quoted are from pick-up until drop-off in Santiago.

  • Earlier departures can be arranged for an additional $5.00 per person.

  • Prices for the horseback riding and hiking packages include pick-up and return to your hotel in Santiago or to the public boat dock.

  • Reservations are binding. Weather conditions must be considered. Cancellations are non-refundable, however for an additional $5.00 per person the date can be rescheduled.

  • There is an additional $10.00 surcharge for Christmas Day, New Year’s Day and other major holidays.

  • $10.00 extra for single riders

  • Non-hiking or non-riding friends can dine with you for breakfast for $25 or lunch for $35. Dietary restrictions must be notified in advance.

  • Cash and travelers checks accepted

  • All payments are paid in quetzales at the international rate for the day, unless approved in advance

  • Security and first aid are provided for all events.
